Llanelli Warriors 22 Burry Port Allstars 47 (match 67) & NDS 35 Warriors 36 (Match 66)

A very strong Burry Port All stars side contiuned their good form with a convincing win at Stradey Park. The match was very ...er... competative and time was called early. The All Stars had already had a couple of good wins over the Hospital and Asda (who included several Warriors) and even without Gavin Quinell and Peter Collins where known to be a force to be reckoned with. I was pretty convinced that the Picton boys - Pual Jones and Lee Diane played but the offical registar of the team reads:
Dai Spriggs, Meredith Pugh, Jon Jones, Alun Stephens, Dai Edwards, Gary James, Gwilym Lewis, Simon Bevan, Chris Spriggs, Colin Talcon, John Horwood, Roger Thomas, ,Dai Newson, Lee Rowlands,
Tries: Dai Edwards, Alun Stephens, Jon Jones, Meredith Pugh, Dai Spriggs
Conversion: David Edwards

New Dock Stars 35 Llanelli Warriors 36 (Match 66)
Match report
Restricted by the weather to just a couple of performances, the Warriors did well to show just enough composure to edge past New Dock Stars. In prefect conditions both sides took the opportunity to spread the ball, producing an excellent game of end to end rugby.
The Stars started quicker and kept the Warriors under pressure scoring a couple of early tries. The Warriors were welcoming back a few old stagers and the influence of the likes of Chris Bonar and Edward Williams helped steady the ship. However it was debutant Dean Roberts who got the Warriors first score - breaking from deep. New Dock favorite Jason Jenkins got the Warriors next score and so a ding dong battle ensued.
Speedy backs Meredith Pugh and Des Williams crossed for the Warriors while New Dock used the opportunity to blood some youngsters. Jamie Herbert and Rhys Gingell kept the scoreboard busy with 19 points between them. The try of the game though fell to Warriors Captain Horwood who capped an inspirational game with a burst up the field that made it look as though the defence was standing still. The result was in doubt throughout the match but with the final move of the game Shed James burrowed over leaving Dai Spriggs with a simple conversion to claim the game.
The game was played in excellent spirit throughout and the Warriors would like to thank New dock for their generosity. The whole Warriors squad did well - from veteran Dai Newson to new boy Mark Phillips with busy wing Dai Edwards named Man of the Match.
Warriors XV: Dai Spriggs, Meredith Pugh, Des Williams, Alun Stephens, Dai Edwards, Jonathan Jones, Dean Roberts, Mike James (Chris Bonar), Jason Jenkins (Edward Williams), Simon Bevan (Gareth McKibbon), John Horwood, Chris Hancock (Roger Thomas), Jonathan Bonar (Mathew Phillips), Dai Newson, Gwilym Lewis (Gary 'Shed' James)
Tries: Jason Jenkins, John Horwood, Gary James, Dean Roberts, Des Williams, Meredith Pugh
Conversions: Dai Sriggs (3)
Man of the Match: Dai Edwards
the report was printed in the Star (in the community notes) and as soon as my scanner works it will be up.
