Steve Walley & Gwilym Lewis (possibly attached to the bodies of Alan Bateman and Scott Quinell) on the cover to commemorate their 50th apperance for the Warriors
Steve Walley and Gwilym Lewis made their 50th apperance but the Warriors felt the absence of a number of other players and were unable to give a talented Veterans side a game. They even had to borrow a couple of players and did well to score 4 tries.
The backline had every player except Meredith Pugh either borrowed or out of position and sometimes both and this resulted in a lack of cohersion, especially in defence. Although it wasn't the nicest day, and there were some genuine excuses it was very disapointing for the club to have to borrow players at this stage in their history.
Warriors XV: Borrowed Veteran (BV), Meredith Pugh, Lee Rowlands, Lee Jones, BV, Des Williams, BV, Edwards Williams, Jason Jenkins, Chris Hancock, Steve Walley, John Horwood, BV (BV), Dai Newson (Cpt), Gwilym Lewis (Scott Thomas). This is as close to the team as we can now work out and only shows the position people started the game.
Tries: Des Williams, Lee Rowlands, Dai Newson, Lee Jones
Conversion: Des Williams (3)
Man of the Match: Des Williams
