The only game of the 1996-97 season was still a hugley significant one for the Warriors. It was played (under lights) at Stradey Park and among those watching were Gareth jenkins and Garan Evans of the Scarlets and the cameras of S4C programme Heno. After match presentations were made by Craig Quinell (who had wandered over to see why the lights were on.) The interest generated galvanised the Warriors into going 'full time'.
The match itself was an exciting and hard fought contest with both sides having enough opportunity to win. Robert G Davies reffereed the match.
