Alltwen & Pontadawe Veterans 36 Llanelli Warriors 17 (match 61)

Evening Post review

The Warriors 14th fixture of the season, therefore their most exstensive to date.

Much stronger than when the sides had played earlier in the season the Warriors put in a good performance. Unfortunatley the vets were also stronger and they again got the result. The Warriors could count themselves unlucky though as 1 try was a definate '14 pointer' with the Warriors about to cross at one end and with players from both teams littered about the field, A&P just managed to get hold of the ball and ran some 99 meters to score. In fact the Warriors often went close only to see the ball swept downfield.

Warriors XV: Lee Rowlands, Darren Davies, Alun Stephens, Des Williams, Lee Jones, Jonathan Jones, Paul Jones, Gareth McKibbon, Richard Samuel, Chris Bonar, Roger Thomas (John Horwood), Steve Walley, Mike James, David Newson (cpt), Gwilym Lewis.

Tries: Des Williams (2), Jonathan Jones.
Conversion: Des Williams.
Man of the match: Roger Thomas
