Pontiets 22 Llanelli Warriors 40 (match 105)

review from Star

1st meeting between the sides and something of a local derby for Billo, Rowlands and Big Al. The Warriors were able to ease to victory despite missing some key players. The scoreline is different to the one in the paper cos it took Lee and Billo that long to remember and work out what the score was.
Pontyates 22 Llanelli Warriors 47

The Gwendreath Valley has been a happy hunting ground for the Warriors this season and they returned to winning ways there when they visited Pontyates for the 1st time.
The 1st half was very closely contested with plenty of flowing rugby. Both sides showed they could play attractive open rugby and were rewarded with two tries apiece. Wenz got the pick of the home scores whilst James Davies was in top form for the Warriors. Defence was also prominent though, Mathew Billo able to get little change from the home team whilst Simon Jenkins put in some big hits for the Warriors. The only difference at the break was that the Warriors had converted both tries.
In the second half the Warriors were able to pull away. Using Stephens and Rowlands to distract the defence the Warriors created holes out wide. Davies was able to complete a hatrick, Jon Kerr crossed twice and Billo also scored. The home side continued to play a full part though with Landen the pick of their players crossing twice.
More positives came for the Warriors with new signing Rob Roberts going well and an excellent kicking display demonstrating the Warriors now have 4 front line kickers. The Warriors will be looking to continue this good form through to the end of the season and into their New Zealand tour.
Llanelli Warriors: Mathew Billo (Robert Roberts), Richard Evans, James Davies (Lee Rowlands), Alun Stephens, Tony Whittaker (Alan Taylor), Jon Jones, Dean Gilasbey, Colin Talcon (Cpt), Jason Jenkins, Mike James, John Horwood (Roger Thomas), Jonathan Kerr, Simon Jenkins, Dai Newson, Paul Jayseab.
The Warriors have two more fixtures: On Saturday 14th they play Cefneithin (home), a thank you match to the club who raised £2000 for them this season and a week later (21st) they play an Opposition Select XV to be followed by the club’s presentation evening.

I’m afraid this review is based on info from Lee Rowlands are therefore full of holes. Anyone claiming a score please see Gwil today so we can sort it out, cheers
