The Llanelli Warriors 9 game unbeaten run was finally put to an end by a Hospital team determined to finish their season on a high. In a fine display of open rugby, excellently refereed by Scott Quinnell the Hospital blitzed the Warriors with an 8 try display of quality.
From the opening salvos the Warriors were under pressure. A lethargic start from the team didn’t help them and the Hospital took full advantage. A big heavy pack was aligned to a very pacey backline with the Samuel brothers providing an excellent link making for a very balanced team. The Hospital dominated possession for most of the 1st half and steam rollered their way into a 30 point lead. The Warriors offered individual resistance but seemed uncoordinated and couldn’t get any forward momentum. Their best player was Alan Taylor whilst Paul Davies also showed up well.
A reshuffle allowed the Warriors to introduce center Andrew John who made an immediate impact. He sparked the Warriors best attacking period but just as the seemed more likely to score the Hospital broke away and crossed at the other end in the last act of the half.
A much improved 2nd half saw the Warriors regain some respectability. A less frenzied approach and some quality ball courtesy of John Horwood allowed them to contribute. Dean Gilasbey finally got them on the score sheet and he was followed by James Davies, Jonathan Jones, Lee Barber and in the final moment of the game Meredith Pugh. Unfortunately for them the Hospital also crossed a couple of times and the result was never in doubt.
The Hospital side were delighted to finish their season on such a high note but the Warriors have a number of important fixtures before their summer tour of New Zealand. If they reproduce their 1st half performance then it could be a very difficult run in but if they can keep their 2nd half performance then they will soon return to winning ways.

Tries: Dean Gilasbey, James Davies, Jonathan Jones, Lee Barber, Meredith Pugh
