Another Tim Reilly photo extravaganza

The Warriors managed to gain another victory, this time against a select team from the town's Turn Syle Sports Bar. The Sports bar was a real mixture of rugby novices and experienced players. They managed to put together some excellent rugby but the Warriors were full of confidence after recent good results. Jon Kerr set a new record for tries in a season as he scored his 3rd hatrick of the season, again equalling the record for tries in a match.
Llanelli Warriors 33 Turn Style Sports bar 19
The Warriors continued their unbeaten start to 2005 with a fine win over Station Road’s Turn Style Sports Bar. The dry conditions aided a running game which helped this enjoyable and entertaining fixture.
A physical match a number of the Warriors put in good performances to make it a true team effort to gain victory.
The game was refereed by new Scarlet Dave Duley allowing the Warriors a taste of Southern Hemisphere interpretations before their tour of New Zealand this summer and they coped well enough despite the odd query. Jonathan Kerr stole the show claiming his 3rd hatrick of the season and (already) setting a new record for tries in the season, passing Dai Newson’s 5 year old record of 11. He also slotted two conversions to leave him on 75 points this term and did his share of the defensive duties to secure man of the match. It was still hard luck on flanker Simon Jenkins who made one of Kerr’s tries with a fantastic blind side break. He ran and tackled hard and slotted two conversions of his own in a fine display. Others to show up well were Richard Evans who put some fine tackles in while Tony Whittaker and Dai Newson kept the home side busy. They got another score when flanker Gwilym Lewis put Dean Gilasbey over in the corner.
The Warriors didn’t have it all their own way though, even though they never lost the lead gained through a trademark Andrew John interception, the game was entertaining because of the part the Turn Style XV played in proceedings. Strong at eight and nine and using the experience of Leighton Porter alongside the vision of Chris Toddler they played plenty of rugby. Mervin Phillips and Simon Evans both got over but they saved the best for last when Lee Williams broke free and outpaced the cover to make a final try for Chris Spriggs. Their scoring was completed with conversions from Dai Keenan and Adam Mayers. It wasn’t enough to win the game but their young side did themselves proud.
The Warriors were pleased with such a complete performance and hope it will carry them through a tough ‘6 Nations’ period starting next Sunday with their rematch against the Cambrian XV (6/2/05)
