The Warriors triumph, as ever was founded up front with prop Chris Bonar having a great game, cancelling out Malta Joe in the tight and Gary James in the loose. The teams then watched the Wales v New Zealand match back at the clubhouse

Burry Port 17 Llanelli Warriors 49

The Warriors managed to pass their own All Blacks challenge when they defeated Burry Port on Saturday. Burry Port were the 1st senior club the Warriors played and it was important for them to pay this visit in their 10th season. Both sides had an experimental look but it was the Warriors who settled quickest. Jonathan Kerr was in phenomenal form and got the ball rolling with a scorching hatrick of tries all of which were improved to put the Warriors in a commanding position.
The Blacks were relying on their gifted outside half who kept them in the game with his own brace. The Warriors were on fire though, man of the match Simon Jenkins, having a good game in defence and attack scored a try to go with his 3 conversions and debutant Andrew Green scored a long range effort after John Horwood had distracted the opposition. Also on the score sheet for the Warriors were prop Dai Ed and veteran No8 Dai Newson who celebrated his 90th match with a nice try. The Warriors utilised 4 kickers and Spriggs, Jenkins, Pugh and Kerr didn’t miss a kick between them. Kerr and Meredith Pugh, playing in the unfamiliar full back roll also did well defensively with Pugh halting a certain try with good anticipation and technique in contact.
It wasn’t all Warriors though, Mike James, Andrew Webb and Gary James all had their moment for Port but their man of the match was definitely Adrian Payne who capped his best performance for years but bustling over for the final Blacks try and adding the conversion.
Another excellent game of rugby The Warriors squad continues to make good progress and are playing some excellent rugby. They hope to play a fixture on December 5th before playing the Swansea Gladiators in the Challenge Shield match on the 12th at Stradey.
